What is the Milni?
The Milni, which means "introductions," is a formal greeting of key relatives from both families. These family members meet and embrace, and they set the tones of love and connection for the day. It's a special experience which paves the way for the unification of two spirits, their families, and God.
What is the Anand Karaj?
The Anand Karaj, which can be translated as "act towards bliss," is a sacred Sikh wedding ceremony. All attendees sit crisscrossed on the floor, watching the couple who are sitting crisscrossed at the front. The core of the ceremony revolves around the laavan: four shabads, or hymns, which describe the path towards blissful unity with God. In the context of the wedding ceremony, the shabads are sung, and the couple then walks slowly and respectfully around the Guru Granth Sahib, the eleventh and eternal Guru. In doing so, the couple accepts and commits to each laav to achieve blissful unity and harmony with each other and God.

What is the Paebaek?
Historically, the Paebaek was a post-wedding ceremony done at the groom's home. It was a part of a series of events that symbolized the unification of the bride and groom and both of their families. The Paebaek was the event where the groom's family officially welcomed and accepted the bride into their family, and the bride paid her respects to the groom's family. A modern day Paebaek is typically done at the reception and includes both sides of the family. It can still be a small, intimate experience, or it can be done with all the guests present. Regardless, many of the core steps of the ceremony remain the same. The newlyweds bow to parents and pour tea or wine for them; the parents offer advice and blessings; chestnuts and dates are tossed and caught, which represent how many daughters and sons the couple will have; and the groom carries the bride around the table as a show of strength.
About Us
What do you love about each other?Jasjeet:
I love Yujun’s deep commitment to wholeness and to his mental, spiritual, and physical wellness. He’s a generous and thoughtful person. He moves and speaks slowly, which is a delightful contrast to my quick. He is smart in ways that I’m not. I’m often learning something new when I’m with him. I love that no dream I dream is too big for him. He has expanded my life in every possible way.
Yujun:
Wow, am I allowed to say everything? Because the answer is definitely everything! She's so fun and beautiful. It's as if the universe said "how do I bring more sparkles, color, and vibrancy to humanity?" and the answer was to create Jasjeet. Let's also not forget her adventurous, creative, intuitive, and wise spirit. Such qualities show up in activities such as exploring all life has to offer, designing hopes & dreams, being deeply present, and having meaingful conversations. It's easy and natural to have these experiences with Jasjeet because that's just how wonderful she is.

What were your first impressions about each other?
Jasjeet:
I first heard about Yujun from a friend, long before he and I first met in person. We hear about strangers all the time, but with Yujun, it was different. My thoughts were, “Ooh! He sounds interesting.”
Yujun:
While at a birthday party, I sat at an open seat, which happened to be next to Jasjeet. I thought, "Oh, she's cute!" I had a brief conversation with her, only to find out that she needed to leave the event. I figured I would never see her again, while wishing I had gotten her phone number or added her on social media.

What’s one dream you have for your married life together?
Jasjeet:
Having an “inside-out” house. That is, a house where the hallways are outside, and the main rooms are their own buildings. I want a life where we pursue our wildest dreams.
Yujun:
I would be so thrilled to get to experience a multi-month trip together! Jasjeet and I have had a wild idea to ship our retrofitted sprinter van to Europe and then go on a road trip for three months. How cool is that! I can't wait for it to happen.
